FCE Speaking, Part 2, Advice and Practice In the second part of the FCE speaking exam you will be asked to compareand contrast 2 pictures and give an opinion about them.
Advice You will only have one minute to do this so try to keep talking; avoid any long gaps. You can keep looking at the photographs while you are talking. If you don't hear the question it is ok to ask the examiner to repeat it. He\She will repeat the exact same question and you will not be faulted for this. It is only if a candiate asks for the question to bere-phrased that he\she is faulted. But again it is better to understandthe question and answer correctly than to misunderstand and answer the wrong question. This is true of the whole exam.
You might start by giving a brief description of each of the pictures but rememeber you do not have to describe them in detail. If you are not sure what the picture is, use your imagination. It is better to say something than nothing.
During the exam keep talking until the examiner asks you to stop.
When your partner is answering his\her part 2 question be sure to listen.Incorporating their opinion into your focus answer shows good listeningskills and interaction.
